Edison begins the hunt for 2024&#8217;s best unpublished board game"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Submissions are open for this year&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/cardboardedison.com\/award\">Cardboard Edison Award<\/a>, which aims to celebrate the best currently unpublished board game designs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Designers have until January 31 to submit their entries for the 2024 award, alongside a brief description of the game, a video overview and a rules document.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Eligible designs must not be publicly available through retail, secondary or print-on-demand markets including Kickstarter before June of this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Entries are welcomed from across the world, although the rulebook must be in English and components either in English or language neutral.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/boardgamewire.com\/index.php\/2023\/05\/22\/making-microscopic-mosaics-from-algae-is-this-years-cardboard-edison-unpublished-game-of-the-year\/\">Last year&#8217;s award was won by Diatoms<\/a>, a game in which players take on the role of Victorian naturalists growing microscopic mosiacs from algae.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sabrina Culyaba\u2019s creation was described as thematic, engaging, puzzly, welcoming, and surprising by the Cardboard Edison Award judging panel, who cited its \u201creally lovely\u201d sampling mechanic and high replayability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Previous winners have include <a href=\"https:\/\/boardgamegeek.com\/boardgame\/238638\/castell\">Castell<\/a>, currently ranked at about 1,300th place on BoardGameGeek, <a href=\"https:\/\/boardgamegeek.com\/boardgame\/256513\/animal-kingdoms\">Animal Kingdoms<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/boardgamegeek.com\/boardgame\/312512\/transcontinental\">The Transcontinental<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Judges for the 2024 award include 25th Century Games founder Chad Elkins, Paverson Games co-founder Dave Beck and Protospiel Online co-organiser David
