{"id":3855,"date":"2025-02-17T14:01:01","date_gmt":"2025-02-17T14:01:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/boardgamewire.com\/?p=3855"},"modified":"2025-02-19T14:01:14","modified_gmt":"2025-02-19T14:01:14","slug":"harmonies-captain-flip-triumph-in-this-years-swiss-gamers-award-castle-combo-seals-two-finalist-spots","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/boardgamewire.com\/index.php\/2025\/02\/17\/harmonies-captain-flip-triumph-in-this-years-swiss-gamers-award-castle-combo-seals-two-finalist-spots\/","title":{"rendered":"Harmonies, Captain Flip triumph in this year&#8217;s Swiss Gamers Award, Castle Combo seals two finalist spots"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Nature-themed tile-laying game <a href=\"https:\/\/boardgamegeek.com\/boardgame\/414317\/harmonies\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Harmonies<\/a> has picked up its second award win of the month after being voted the best game in this year&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/swissgamersaward.ch\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Swiss Gamers Award<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Harmonies outdid <a href=\"https:\/\/boardgamegeek.com\/boardgame\/416851\/castle-combo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Castle Combo<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/boardgamegeek.com\/boardgame\/413246\/bomb-busters\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Bomb Busters<\/a> to seal top spot in the 2024 contest, which is voted on by members of board game clubs, game and toy libraries and gaming associations across Switzerland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/boardgamegeek.com\/boardgame\/393325\/captain-flip\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Captain Flip<\/a> was victorious in the Family award this year, finishing ahead of second-placed <a href=\"https:\/\/boardgamegeek.com\/boardgame\/406854\/odin\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Odin<\/a> and third-placed Castle Combo, which managed to secure top three finishes in both categories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Harmonies&#8217; win comes two weeks after <a href=\"https:\/\/boardgamewire.com\/index.php\/2025\/02\/04\/harmonies-darwins-journey-splendor-duel-among-winners-in-this-years-boardgamearena-awards\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">the game sealed a convincing win in the Best Regular Game category of this year&#8217;s BoardGameArena awards<\/a>, with almost 45% of the vote.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The game, published by <a href=\"https:\/\/corporate.asmodee.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Asmodee<\/a> studio Libellud, has picked up praise since its 2024 release for its beautiful art style, its strategic options despite a low barrier to entry, and its quick play time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last year Harmonies was recommended by the <a href=\"https:\/\/boardgamewire.com\/index.php\/2024\/07\/23\/sky-team-crowned-spiel-des-jahres-winner-for-2024-daybreak-takes-kennerspiel-prize\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Spiel des Jahres<\/a> jury, and Asmodee&#8217;s now CEO Thomas Koegler <a href=\"https:\/\/boardgamewire.com\/index.php\/2024\/08\/15\/asmodee-remains-jewel-in-embracers-crown-despite-suffering-quarterly-sales-drop\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">specifically highlighted the game as having had a strong launch<\/a> when speaking in a Q&amp;A about the company&#8217;s quarterly results last August.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Castle Combo and Captain Flip also recently scored success in the BoardGameArena awards, with the former winning Best Casual Game with 35.6% of the vote, just ahead of Captain Flip&#8217;s 34.6%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Swiss Gamers Award has been held every year since 2010, following the demise of the Schweizer Spielepreis in 2006.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although the award is given by gamers living in Switzerland, all games published in the prior year can be nominated, regardless of the nationality of their authors and publishers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Faraway was the winner of last year&#8217;s Swiss Gamers Award, while the far more heavyweight Ark Nova triumphed in 2022 and mid-weight euro The Lost Ruins of Arnak won in 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The award is organised by <a href=\"https:\/\/ludesco.ch\/en\/home\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Ludesco<\/a>, Switzerland&#8217;s biggest board game festival, in partnership with the Swiss Federation of Toy Libraries and the Swiss Game Museum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Swiss Gamers Award Results 2024<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1st Place &#8211;
