{"id":4170,"date":"2025-03-28T16:18:29","date_gmt":"2025-03-28T16:18:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/boardgamewire.com\/?p=4170"},"modified":"2025-04-09T16:23:59","modified_gmt":"2025-04-09T15:23:59","slug":"quacks-publisher-cmyk-is-launching-a-tv-game-show-based-on-another-wolfgang-warsch-game-this-year","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/boardgamewire.com\/index.php\/2025\/03\/28\/quacks-publisher-cmyk-is-launching-a-tv-game-show-based-on-another-wolfgang-warsch-game-this-year\/","title":{"rendered":"Quacks publisher CMYK is launching a TV game show based on another Wolfgang Warsch game this year"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/boardgamegeek.com\/boardgamepublisher\/46474\/cmyk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">CMYK<\/a>, the US publisher of <a href=\"https:\/\/boardgamegeek.com\/boardgame\/244521\/quacks\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Quacks of Quedlinberg<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/boardgamegeek.com\/boardgame\/262543\/wavelength\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Wavelength<\/a>, is making the jump to television with the launch of a game show on CBS based on another Wolfgang Warsch design.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Perfect Line is inspired by Warsch&#8217;s 2018 design <a href=\"https:\/\/boardgamegeek.com\/boardgame\/244995\/illusion\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Illusion<\/a> &#8211; which CMYK is re-releasing as <a href=\"https:\/\/boardgamegeek.com\/boardgame\/439209\/figment\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Figment<\/a> this year &#8211; and will challenge contestants to test their pop culture knowledge by placing items in a precise lineup to win cash prizes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The show, which will be hosted by Inside Edition&#8217;s Deborah Norville, is anchored by CBS and has now been sold to broadcast stations in 90% of the US.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Company CEO Alex Hague told BoardGameWire, &#8220;We get dozens of inquiries each year to make a Wavelength TV show, and while we haven&#8217;t hit on the perfect format for that yet, we were lucky enough to meet lots of people through those conversations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;And separately, [CMYK co-founder Justin Vickers] and I had been working on a &#8216;put things in a line&#8217; game for years, along with working with Wolfgang on Figment, which is a redesign of his game Illusion. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"904\" height=\"596\" src=\"https:\/\/boardgamewire.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/Figment-CMYK.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4177\" srcset=\"https:\/\/boardgamewire.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/Figment-CMYK.jpg 904w, https:\/\/boardgamewire.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/Figment-CMYK-300x198.jpg 300w, https:\/\/boardgamewire.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/Figment-CMYK-768x506.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 904px) 100vw, 904px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Figment from CMYK<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;So a lot of those ideas had been percolating, and the folks at [American cable channel] Game Show Network and CBS loved how simple the idea was.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hague and Vickers are executive producers on the show, which is set to premiere later this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Asked how creating the show has proved different from designing a more regular board game, Hague said, &#8220;Gameshows are hard!
