Lucky Duck brings in former Quartermaster Logistics sales director Matt Goldrick to boosts B2B localisation, licensing arm
Lucky Duck Games has brought in Quartermaster Logistics sales director Matt Goldrick as senior partner for its Global Publishing Network, the B2B localisation and licensing arm it launched two years ago.
Goldrick previously spent almost five years with Quartermaster, joining as sales manager before being named director of sales and business development at the start of 2023.
Prior to Quartermaster he spent a couple of years as manager of product development at Grey Fox Games, according to his LinkedIn profile.
Lucky Duck, which was bought by Rummikub manufacturer Goliath last year, was launched in 2016 by video game programmer Vincent Vergonjeanne to publish tabletop versions of digital games.
The Poland-based company kicked things off by raising about $236,000 through a Kickstarter for Vikings Gone Wild the same year, before collecting about $800,000 for its first digital hybrid game Chronicles of Crime in 2018 and scoring its first $1m-plus Kickstarter in Kingdom Rush: Rift in Time in 2019 – which rose to nearly $2m through further pledges on Gamefound.
The company expanded into the US in 2018, France in 2019, Poland in 2020 and Italy in 2022, and has since made a name for itself as a localiser of games such as Dune Imperium, Too Many Bones and Cascadia, as well as finding continued success with its own crowdfunding projects, including $1m-plus campaigns for Chronicles of Crime – The Millennium Series, The Flames of Fafnir and The Dark Quarter.
Lucky Duck’s international localising and licensing operation was headed up by David Lockwood from 2021 until last month, when he left to launch Next Tabletop.
Few details have been unveiled so far about Next Tabletop, although its Facebook page described it as “passionate about bringing games to new audiences around the world with partnerships that preserve the heart of your game”.
Next Tabletop has also been hiring, having just announced that long-time Lucky Duck logistics specialist Theo Garnier has joined the business.
