New Heroscape publisher Renegade reignites GTS Distribution partnership
Renegade Game Studios has re-established its partnership with GTS Distribution, three years after dropping the company as one of its distributors.
The publisher of Clank! and the West Kingdom series of games pared down its US distribution partners in January 2020 to just Alliance Game Distributors and ACD Distribution, ending its deals with GTS as well as Peachstate Hobby Distribution and Southern Hobby Supply.
But the pair have now signed a new agreement to give Renegade “enhanced product accessibility”, the company said.
Patrick Day, director of business development for gaming at GTS, said, “Renegade Games has one of the most inclusive and thrilling libraries of board games, card games, and RPGs in the industry.
“I have long been a supporter of their games and the amazing work their team does. I am overjoyed to get to coordinate with them in this new way.
“Here at GTS, we are especially looking forward to their launch of Heroscape. We are pleased to be part of the process for the return of this highly anticipated title.”
Renegade picked up the licence for well-loved 2004 fantasty battle game Heroscape in June, around six months after Hasbro scrapped its plans for reviving the game amid failing to hit its $2m crowdfunding target for a big-box version called Heroscape: Age of Annihilation.
Hasbro was criticised at the time for the game’s $250 cost and for using its own HasLabs platform to run the campaign, rather than a high-profile generic crowdfunding platform such as Kickstarter or Gamefound.
