Heat: Pedal to the Metal reprint should hit US shelves by end of May

One of last year’s biggest board game hits, motor racing game Heat: Pedal to the Metal, should finally be back in stock in the US by the end of May after surprising its publisher with the speed it sold out.

Heat, a hand-management-focused motor racing games set in the 1960s, saw copies fly off the shelves after its November 2022 release was followed by a plethora of positive reviews.

Last week Heat triumphed in two categories at the annual BoardGameGeek Golden Geek awards, picking up gongs for Medium Game of the Year and Best Thematic Game, and also finishes as a runner-up to Cat in the Box as Best Innovative Game.

Publisher Days of Wonder has managed to get a timely print run in for the game, which will be back in stock in the US at the very end of this month according to company head Adrien Martinot.

No word yet on the much-rumoured expansion for the game, which is expected to add support for 7-8 players.

Heat’s strong display in the BoardGameGeek awards has just seen it crack the site’s Top 100 for the first time, with the game currently sitting in 96th place with a rating of 8.2.

A spokesperson for Asmodee, Days of Wonder’s parent company, would not confirm how many copies of the game have been sold to date.
